Electronic Production & Design

As an Associate Professor in the Electronic Production and Design (EPD) department at Berklee College of Music, I focus on the intersection of creative artistry and technical mastery. My work centers on preparing students for the evolving landscape of music technology, specifically through the development of forward-thinking curricula in electronic performance and sound design. I am dedicated to fostering an environment where students don’t just learn the tools, but learn how to innovate with them—integrating hardware, software, and physical expression into a singular creative voice."

Beyond the physical classroom, I extend my instructional reach through Berklee Online, designing and lead-instructing courses that serve a global community of music producers and engineers. My courses are built to translate complex technical concepts into actionable creative skills, ensuring that students—regardless of their location—receive the rigorous, industry-standard training synonymous with the Berklee name. From foundational synthesis to advanced production techniques, my goal is to provide digital learners with the technical fluency needed to succeed in today’s professional audio industry.

Live Playback Engineering & Systems Design

I view the live playback rig not as a utility, but as the invisible pulse of the stage, a digital nervous system that must be as expressive as it is indestructible. My work lives at the intersection of technical precision and creative risk, designing Redundant Systems that offer the safety of Auto-Switching without stifling the artist's breath.I specialize in weaving complex threads of MIDI Mapping and Show Control into a singular, cohesive experience, utilizing Timecode Synchronization (SMPTE/MTC) to lock light, sound, and movement into perfect alignment. Through a deep mastery of Ableton Live Performance Optimization, I transform the 'manual' of live tech into a fluid, responsive instrument, ensuring that even the most sophisticated electronic architectures feel human, spontaneous, and undeniably alive.

Electronic Music Production

Music production is the art of translation. Whether I am stepping into a collaborator's world or exploring my own, my process is a search for the core emotional frequency of a song and bringing it into focus. In my work with other artists, I act as a sonic architect—listening for the unsaid intentions and building the textures, rhythms, and spaces needed to house their vision. I believe a producer's role is to protect the artist's vulnerability while surrounding it with a sophisticated, professional frame. In my independent work, I explore the tension between the organic and the digital. By weaving the tactile, expressive language of guitar-driven melodies into the precision of electronic production, I create landscapes that feel both modern and deeply human. To me, the studio is a place where electricity meets instinct; where we don't just 'track' music, but capture a living moment of discovery."

Pioneering the Digital Instrument

Performance at the edge of technology requires a new kind of virtuosity. As a pioneer in the Electronic Digital Instrument (EDI) principal at Berklee College of Music, I have dedicated my career to codifying the techniques that transform controllers into true instruments. My work in developing the curriculum for this major has redefined how we approach the stage, moving beyond simple triggering toward expressive, high-level musicianship.I am particularly proud of my award-winning work with Berklee Online, where I designed and authored the first comprehensive courses on Electronic Music Performance Techniques . This course—which earned a TELLY Award for excellence in educational content—serve as a global benchmark for digital performance. By bridging the gap between rhythmic tradition and modern sequencing, I help artists master the tactile nuances of the grid, ensuring that electronic performance is as visceral and dynamic as any acoustic tradition.

Movement in Harmony: A New Performance Language

Movement in Harmony is an interdisciplinary exploration into the fluid boundaries between sound, light, and the human form. Developed in collaboration with the Boston Conservatory, this groundbreaking showcase redefines the traditional relationship between dancer and composer, transforming physical gesture into a live, generative instrument.By integrating sensor technology (MiMU Gloves, Leap Motion) alongside depth-sensing cameras, I have created a multidimensional tracking environment. This system captures the dancer’s precise muscular movements and spatial position to drive real-time interactions within both the sonic landscape and TouchDesigner live visuals. This is not a pre-recorded accompaniment, but a living dialogue; a search for a 'shared nervous system' where every extension of a limb creates an immediate, audible, and visual ripple. Through this work, we are moving beyond the confines of traditional performance into a future where technology makes the invisible energy of movement both visible and heard.
